Built in the 1830's as Port Dover's first department store called The Fair. It was originally on the corner of Main Street and Market Street. Built to last the test of time with a 10 x 10 inch post and beam frame and 3 x 10 inch floor joists.  â€‹What was the front entrance to the store is now the side of the house. In 1921 the building was bought by the Port Dover pharmacist, Joseph Tibbit and  dragged by horses (with rolling logs underneath) to it's current location to be remodeled into a family home.

History

Originally built in 1834 as Port Dover's first department store called "The Fair". With a very sturdy 10" x 10" post and beam construction it was built to last. What was the front entrance of the store is now the side of the house. The building was moved in 1921, pulled by horses, rolled on logs to it's current location where the Tibbit family made it into Port Dover's first duplex.
