This house has some truly unique and beautiful windows. The main floor has six sets of six windows that are all originally custom made and have been designed in a way that echos the buildings past. All windows have been completely and lovingly restored and refinished. The sash windows have been balanced for ease of opening and stay open without props. The storm windows have been hinged with handles and stays and custom made screens have been added that slide up and down so you can open and close the storm windows from the inside thus never needing to remove the storms. All windows that open have been fitted with nylon weather stripping that snugly seal the windows when closed. The Shamrock stained glass window in the upper front of the building was commission to replicate the shamrock stamp the original owners put on the house.
ORIGINAL FLOORS
This is a truly custom made shaker design kitchen. Made from sweet, domestic cherry wood from a tree that was growing on the property since before this area was part of Port Dover, when it was the Powell Fruit Orchard circa 1870. The tree was milled on the property and from the milled planks the kitchen was lovingly made in the workshop right on the property. The counter tops and sink are made from Barroca Soap Stone. The appliances are stainless steel or built in, top quality Kitchenaid with some units, like the dishwasher, never used. Plus this kitchen boasts some of the most up to date extras. All appliances are still under full manufacturer's warranty.
Original Windows
The wood this kitchen is made from is extremely rare as sweet domestic cherry doesn't usually grow very big because of farming practices.
The built-in appliances have brass forged, black finished pulls, this picture is of the french-doors of the refrigerator.
The open concept of the main living area makes the kitchen an extension of the dinning and living areas.

The upstairs floors are from the 1830's. These floors are so beautiful and rare that we had to give them the royal treatment. Two inch thick fir and pine, wide plank floors that have been lovingly restored, screwed down with original-wood plugs covering the screw heads and pine strips that fill the gaps that over time developed between the boards. The main floor floors are circa 1920 Douglas Fir that too have been lovingly restored and refinished.

The Fireplaces
The house has two matching fire places with wood burning inserts that boast a hot air circulation system that draws air around the outside of the fire box and blows hot air into the room. The air for the fire and the circulation system are drawn from the basement which aids in air purity for the house and assures a warm and comforting atmosphere around the fireplace. The mantels are Barroca Soap Stone and the hearths are original "Hamilton" red brick circa 1921. The chimneys are lined with self-cleaning stainless steel liners for ease of maintenance.
The bathtub, sink and sink faucets are all original circa 1921.
The Bathrooms
The house has three bathrooms, two upstairs including the master bedroom en-suite and one on the main level next to the laundry room. The upstairs bathrooms have custom made wood paneling wainscoting that matches the one inch thick floor to ceiling wood paneling in areas of the main floor. Both upstairs bathrooms have original 1921 cast iron, claw foot bath tubs that have been re-enameled and have new faucet and drain hardware. All the fixtures of the bathrooms are custom made with a special eye on style and convenience.

The Back Porch
The Back Porch was the last of the additions put on the house some time in the 1920's. For this little room we brought the sunny outside colors of the house inside. Just off the kitchen it is a perfect sunny room to grow herbs or flowers. The built in cabinet is original and like the rest of the house has been completely restored. The outside door has been updated with a double glazed window.
All the rooms and closets have matching ceiling light fixtures. The soft light glass with organic, irregular shaped edge gives a discrete elegance.

The lighting and hardware are part of the designer element of the house. Blending old styles with new design can be difficult but here they are balanced in a seamless way.
